Watering all zones simultaneously

Rod Timby
Updated at 2019-07-11 18:14:39 UTC
I installed as directed and only have three zones, but every time the system comes on all zones are watering simultaneously.  I installed the common wire as it was removed from the last controller and each valve wire is hooked to zones 1-3.  Any thoughts or ideals are appreciated.  Thank you

Controller consistently goes offline

Updated at 2019-07-12 15:05:29 UTC

Hi there,

My controller has been losing connection to the internet everyday for about two weeks. The controller light stays solid and my app says the controller is offline. I can only reset the controller by physically disconnecting the power supply for 10 seconds and rebooting. This is getting anyoying and is  becoming a daily routine. I have a wifi extender 2 ft from the controller location as well. If I can't depend on the controller to stay online, what's the point of having an internet based sprinkler system? What steps can I take to make the controller stay connected to the internet?

not watering after installation

I installed two Netro Sprites to replace the previous controllers. The installation itself went fine, and I was able to verify that the first one waters the zones fine.

However, the second one does not water any zones. All the status indicators are fine, I hear the water getting turned on, and everything but no watering. What could be wrong? The wiring seems pretty simple. One common wire, 4 zone wires, and the power. All the wires are securely in. What are the ways to troubleshoot this?

Thanks in advance!

Rachio has a new leak detection device you can install on the pipe that talks to the controller letting it know if there's water flow that shouldn't be happening. Do you guys have plans to do anything like this? Would absolutely be interested in it!

St. Augustine

What’s the best way to fill in a bald corner of my yard with st Augustine. Every house in my neighborhood has a lush yard and so do I do for the most part. There isn’t a lot of foot traffic there. The only thing I can think of is that it’s at the top of my slopped yard (probably my the highest point) and maybe the water runs off to quickly. I don’t want to have to lay sod down if I don’t have too so I wanted to see if there were any other options.

Why is my sprite watering zones multiple times a day

Tim Cox
Updated at 2019-02-02 01:35:59 UTC
Installed sprite after I got it for Christmas.  Today it started watering on its own for the first time and certain zones ran for almost 45 minutes and a couple zones watered more than one time in a day.  What the heck is going on????

Location Based Watering Restrictions - Check-in Interval

Matt Grooms
Updated at 2019-07-14 18:58:52 UTC

One of the great features of Netro is it's ability to look up my local (city/state) watering regulations, and apply them to my watering schedule. Bravo Netro!

Months ago, when I installed my Netro controller it looked up the then current (Stage-One) restrictions, and applied them to my watering schedule. However, since that time the watering restrictions have been eased (Year-Round restrictions) , and I'm allowed to water any day of the week. Well, Netro did not follow the changes and is still applying the old restrictions.

I attempted to trick Netro into rereading my local restrictions by turning the feature off, then back on. No luck.

So the questions are:

1) How often does a Netro Controller check the cloud database for updated watering restriction for it's location?

2) How often does Netro Central (you guys) check with communities for watering restriction updates and update your database so that deployed Netro controllers get accurate rules to apply?

I can see where it might be hard to keep up with small communities and rural areas, but my location (San Antonio, Texas, USA) has almost two-million people in the area. A single update on your part would provide a potentially large number of Netro users with current watering restriction information.

Thanks,

Matt

Have two Whiperer sensors in container pots setting up for bare root treesin large fabric bag containers. Sensors have detected a moisture level of only up to 16%. This morning after and during a one inch rain the soil moisture is only reading 3% and 6%. Clearly something is wrong.

Whisperer and smartzone configuration

Alfonso Olias Sanz
Updated at 2019-07-19 13:45:19 UTC

I have set up all the zones with the whisperers. And there is something I do not understand.

One of the zones usually get flooded in autumn because the type of soil retains lots of water.

But the whisperer and the smart zone is saying that the zone has to be watered more time than the other zones.

My question is if the whisperer adapts the irrigation schedules and the time is watering per zone. Depending on the moisture, weather conditions  and type os soil.  It is clear that the soil type determines how much and how often to water.

Here in the following link (https://www.netrohome.com/shop/products/whisperer)says that "Netro accurately measures the water capacity and drainage rate of your soil, making sure your soil always receives the perfect amount of water at the perfect time."

That is fine, but it is confusing that in the app I can still define the type of soil.

A second question I have is that I can define the watering strategy (Regular, ECO etc...) I want to know if the whisperer and the controller will notify me if I have to change the strategy based on the weather conditions and the type of soil, plants etc...

Any idea?

Instructions about Replacing Toro System

Netro Support
Updated at 2019-03-20 08:07:29 UTC

Replacing Toro system

This page lists some instructions about replacing the common types of Toro system with Netro smart watering controller.

Example 1:

Toro model gk212-04

1. Connect the 2 white wires to the C slots, one on the left and the other on the right which is now occupied by a red one.

2. Move the red wire(currently on C slot) to M slot because it is for your master valve.

3. The last step is to connect the power then you should be good to go.

Example 2:

Toro IC 8.

The first slot of your current controller is master valve which should be connected  to "M" slot of Netro. The two wires in the second slot are common wires should be connected to the 'C' slot of Netro. The last step is to connect the power then you should be good to go.

Example 3:

Toro Model 53765 6 zones

The red and white wires are the commons wires and should go to the two "C" slots in Netro Sprite controller. You do not need to connect the gray and black wires as they are the power wires for the old controller.
