IFTTT - Watering Schedule

Dear Christophe, 


Netro IFTTT returns local time for convenience, where the time zone is determined by your device address. The API returns

1. date: local date

2. start_time: local start time, please use only the time part and ignore the date and time zone part if any. 

3. end_time: local end time, similar with above. 


We have checked the API, it seems OK. For example, you have a schedule on 2020/09/10, from 06:00am to 06:28am, the API returns:

Please note that "2020-09-10T06:28:00.000Z" is not UTC time, only use the "06:28:00" part, although system may add date and timezone part automatically.

If you turn on the smart zone feature, Netro will skip the schedules (including manual schedules from user programs) when there is a chance of significant rain(0.2 inch). 


We noticed there's rain forecast in your area but Netro did not skip watering because the rain probability is small: 38%. We take the forecasted precipitation and multiply it by the probability of rain. If the result is 0.2 inches or higher, than we will cancel watering schedules. For example, if rainfall is 0.2 inches but probability is 50%, then 0.2*.5 = .1, 0.1 is less than 0.2, so the watering will go as scheduled. But if rainfall is 0.4 inches with 50%, then the Smart Zone will cancel the watering schedule for that day.


You could customized the weather restrictions now as well. By default, Netro skip schedules today and tomorrow if today rains more than 1 inch. You can customize it, like I want to skip the schedules on the day after tomorrow as well, or I want to skip if rain more than 1 inch. The setting is in "setting -> preferences -> rain".

Shut down for winter

Thanks for contacting us. To stop watering during winter, you can put Sprite in "paused" mode in winter, you will have winterize your system. First you will have to blow out the sprinkler. You can look at this video to find some useful information. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3YRbJYmvgA&t=99s

Then you can put Sprite in "paused" mode just in case some one (for example the kids) accidentally starts a manually run from the app. To put Sprite in "paused" mode, you can go to Settings->Controller->Enabled. This information is on Netro forum. https://www.netrohome.com/forum/posts/96

If you set Sprite in paused mode, you will not lose settings or wifi connection.

Whisper sensor

Dear Randle,


The sensor can only measure the humidity of the place where it is inserted but not an large area. It cannot measure the soil moisture level within a few meters of the surrounding area.  However, the general humidity of the soil where sensor is inserted does not have much difference.  So when inserting it,  we suggest find a place which represents the average condition for your zone, not place sensor in  special places, such as edges, pits, blocked places, etc.

Keeps watering even though it rains

If you turn on the smart zone feature, Netro will skip the schedules(including manual schedules from user programs) when there is a chance of significant rain. However, we found you have disabled the smart zone feature so Netro will not skip watering when it's raining.


If you do not want smart zone schedule to override your own programmed schedule, you can set up the Smart Zone level from Advanced to Basic, which only skip rainning days for your programmed schedule. Watering Adjustment not working

Dear customer, 


Netro did water your yard when sensor reports low moisture. For example, on 20th, Netro watered from 5:22 for 10 minutes. Similar for other dates. 


Currently, we limit water at most once per day. So even if sensor reports low moisture on the evening, Netro will not water again as already watered in the early morning. If sensor keeps reporting low value, please check and ensure this is no gap between sensor and soil, as the air between them could introduce noise, push the soil around sensor tight.

When Sprite finishes running a watering schedule, it will send a confirmation to the cloud server. In this way, the could server knows whether the schedules are correctly executed or not.


The exclamation mark means the cloud server did not receive the confirmation from the device. There are two possible causes:

1. the device is not powered up when it was supposed to be powered up to run that schedule. Therefore, the corresponding zone is not watered (what is why we use the exclamation to alert users)

2. the schedule run fine but it was during a temporary network outage or exception so that the confirmation cannot be delivered to the server. Wireless connection can be unstable for a short peroid time so it is not uncommon to have a glitch in the communication.

It could just be a temporary network issues. But if that happens a lot please check the WiFi signal strength. If you use a WiFi extender, please make sure it is connected to the main router stably.

Dear Fre,

Please check the wires. Are they loose or disconnected from the slots? Please also check the common wires and the master valve if you have one. If you believe the wires are correctly installed,  please check if there is a main valve/faucet that is turned off manually. 


To test if the controller is working properly, use a multimeter (AC voltage mode) to test the voltage between the common wire and the zone wire when the zone is active. Normally the voltage should be between 24V and 28V.

You might also want to check whether there are shorted zones or open zones. You just need to use a multimeter to measure the resistance between the common wire and each zone (remove the wires from the slots before testing the resistance). The normal reading would be 20-60 Ohms. If the reading is less than 10 Ohms then you might have a shorted circuit in the solenoid and if it is larger than 80 Ohms you might have an open circuit.
