I always find cats dejections on my garden but I  cats are not mines. I had an idea to avoid these cats' gift, installing a PIR sensor connected to netro controller by wifi that transmit a signal to water garden at cats presence. Cats don't love water so they leave my garden very quickly.

Do you think you can build a sensor like this?

I.could be a beta tester ;)

Google Home app questions- just installed my Netro Sprite!

Updated at 2019-06-26 04:16:22 UTC

I just installed my Netro Sprite and am having fun investigating all the options. After some false steps, I was able to link it to my google home account. so, my questions:

1. When I go through google, do I always have to say "Okay, Google, talk to Netro Sprite", and then when Netro responds, give a command, such as "water zone 1 for five minutes". Is there any way such that I can say directly to google "water zone 1", and Netro will do it (like smart light switches)- I don't have to tell google to tell TP-link to turn on the bedroom light!

2. I know that Netro controls zones sequentially (only one on at a time). When I ask Netro (through google home) to water zone 1 for x minutes, it then asks "what else can I do for you". If I say "water zone 2 for x minutes, it looks like it immediately turns off zone 1, and turns on zone 2. So, does "what else" mean "instead of", rather than "in addition to" the first command? Is there any way to get it to recognize sequential zone commands?

3. I've renamed my zones in the Netro app (nice touch- always hated having to remember zone numbers with old controller. Is there any way for the Netro google link to recognize (like google home does with devices) the name of a zone? It would be great to say "water front lawn for five minutes" instead of having to remember which zone it is.

I want to create restrictions for a set of specific days in the future.  Birthdays of family members for example. Or days that I have outdoor entertainment planned. I want to set these up long in advance (before a smart schedule has been scheduled.) How can I do this?

Scheduled a one time run for a certain time in Settings->Program, but the app didn’t show the run in the schedule and the irrigation did not run either. Any idea how to set up a one time run when smart feature is enabled? Thanks

Updated at 2019-06-24 03:20:54 UTC

Hi... I've set my Netro Sprite's watering "time frame" (under Settings) to be between 7 and 11pm. It still however schedules its watering start time at 6pm.  How can I fix this?

Thanks

Google Home Commands not Working

For some reason, when I give Google the command to "talk to netro sprite to water zone for 5 minutes" or "ask netro sprite to water zone for 5 minutes" Netro comes back and says "I have stopped watering.  What else can I do for you?"  It won't do anything else but turn off the zones.  Why is this?

watering usage doesn't match

Here is something I cannot reconcile. I am dealing with a pretty big water usage reported by the utility. It says in the month of May I used 530 GPD (gallons per day). I seem to be watering every 3 days (set by Netro).

Compared to winter months when I rarely watered the lawn due to the rainy season, it is a jump of ~ 270 GPD.

When I check the Netro app, it reports I used ~ 3.5 CCF for the month of May. 1 CCF = 748 gallons, and that translates to roughly 87 gallons per day. This is less than 1/3 of what the utility is telling me. How can this discrepancy be explained? Any ideas/tips for finding why I seem to be using this much water? Thanks in advance!

Amount of Rainfall keeps changing

Netro app keeps changing the amount of rainfall that we have had. Day before yesterday it rained heavily. The very next day Netro app showed that it rained 1 inch. Today it’s showing that on that same day it rained only 0.33 inch. Any idea why it keeps fluctuating for something that has already happened in the past?

Zero lux on whisperer during day time

Hey- just added the whisperer sensors to the system - one sensor by the bamboo always shows zero lux sunlight, it is mostly in shade, but definitely gets light, is it strange that sensor shows zero lux?

Difficulty connecting to Google WiFi

I have a Sprite that refuses to connect to my Google WiFi.  Even with the router in the garage with it.

It will connect to a mobile hotspot on a cell phone.  Is there a known issue for Google WiFi?  I have tried all of the troubleshooting steps without any luck.

Configuration for Netro Sprite suggestions requests

Tony D.
Updated at 2019-06-14 22:30:14 UTC

I am interested in buying the Netro Sprite sprinkler. I read several reviews and they are all pretty good. I noticed that many state that the sprite is not able to water two zones at the same time. Is this something limited by project and wanted or do you think it could be upgraded with a software upgrade?

I wanted to ask you some questions about my garden layout. I attach a planimetry for convenience.

The garden consists of two pieces surrounded by railings with a central railing too. The one on the left side is about 70cm lower then the one on the right side.

The two big areas are covered with lawn. At the left side border there are 8 laurus nobilis plants (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laurus_nobilis) while at the right side border there are 8 Trachelospermum jasminoides plants (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trachelospermum_jasminoides).

Based on your experience how many zones would you create. At first I thought to go with three zones: one for both lawn plots, one for the laurus and another for the Trachelospermum. My doubt is I need to split the two lawn plots into two separate zones. How would the inability to operate different zones at the same time affect the watering and would the Sprite handle different times automatically or would I need to intervene manually?

My last question is about the Whisperer sensor, how many of them would you place in the garden?

Waiting forward to your suggestions,

Tony
