Netro is only compatible with 2.4 and would need a change in the hardware (not just a software update) to become compatible with 5ghz.
State of the art networks typically are at least dual band, meaning they broadcast both 2.4 and 5ghz network bands.
Before you get rid of Netro, Google how to broadcast the 2.4 band with your mesh system. If truly only 5 GHz, then you may have to pick a side.
Many smart home devices are only 2.4 compatible, so I'd be cautious with an only 5 GHz setup.
