Manual operation stopped working

Dear customer,

Please check the wires. Are they loose or disconnected from the slots? Please also check the common wires and the master valve if you have one. If you believe the wires are correctly installed,  please check if there is a main valve/faucet that is turned off manually.

To test if the controller is working properly, use a multimeter (AC voltage mode) to test the voltage between the common wire and the zone wire when the zone is active. Normally the voltage should be between 24V and 28V.

You might also want to check whether there are shorted zones or open zones. You just need to use a multimeter to measure the resistance between the common wire and each zone (remove the wires from the slots before testing the resistance). The normal reading would be 20-60 Ohms. If the reading is less than 10 Ohms then you might have a shorted circuit in the solenoid and if it is larger than 80 Ohms you might have an open circuit.

Thanks,

Wency

Hi Gregor,

If you create a program or restriction, Netro will strictly follow the watering time and duration, however, preferences will not. Netro will try to water during your preferred time. However, if Netro believes your watering is not enough, it will still water your zones regardless of you preferred watering time.

You can go to Settings->Restriction to create a restriction to strictly restrict the watering time.

Optimum moisture level

Updated at 2022-08-08 06:10:43 UTC

Hi Spiros,

For grass, we suggest water it when the moisture level drops to 60% and raises it to 90%.

For shrubs, the value is 50% to 80%. Shrubs require deeper watering with less frequency because they have longer roots and can absorb moisture from deeper soil.

Rain

Updated at 2022-08-08 06:04:28 UTC

Dear customer,

Netro gets weather forecast data from our weather provider, which could be not accurate enough, as weather forecasting is challenging.

You can check the weather data on the home tab. If it is not correct, you can select other weather provider in settings->weather provider, you can also select the weather station ID with the Wunderground option.

With incorrect weather data, Netro’s smart algorithm could be not optima. Like you said, still watering while raining.
You can also adjust the rain data through Discover page->"+" button on the upper right corner-> Correct rainfall.

Thanks,

Wency

Smart Zone Frequency and duration

Updated at 2022-08-08 06:00:36 UTC

Hi Gregor,

Netro's algorithm encourages longer water time and less water frequency, which will help growth of the roots. It will also break long water time to several small slots to prevent water runoff. If you think the smart schedules water too much , you can either change to different smart zone mode (ECO), or you can set up your own programs and set up your smart zone in basic level. Water Saving Results

Updated at 2022-08-08 05:58:45 UTC

Dear customer,

Netro uses the area and depth flow rate(inch/hour) to calculate the water usage is that when the sprinkler system is professionally designed and installed, the zone is usually covered evenly, which means the large the zone is, the more sprinkler heads it needs. So the equation we use is

Area(inch^2) x depth flow rate (inch/hour) x time (hour) = water usage(inch^3)

Here are some typical flow rate:
MISTER: 2 inch/hour
FIX_SPRAY_HEAD: 1.5 inch/hour
BUBBLER/ROTOR_HEAD: 1.0 inch/hour
ROTARY_NOZZLE: 0.7 inch/hour
ROTARY_EMITTER: 0.5 inch/hour

If you switched from spray to drip irrigation, it does decrease the water usage.

Hi Douglas,

I have forwarded your request to our R&D. Actually Netro algorithm has taken the high temperature into consideration and improved the watering time. We will discuss about it as some users report that there is too much water.

Wrong scheduling?

Updated at 2022-08-02 08:11:08 UTC

Dear customer,

If you want to cancel a future run, you can go to the Schedule page, select the day and skip the user programs. For Smart schedules, it does not make a lot of sense to skip a certain run because that will only push the run later in the day as the system is trying to maintain the moisture level.

Netro's algorithm encourages longer water time and less water frequency, which will help growth of the roots. It will also break long water time to several small slots to prevent water runoff.
