Is a full time wifi connection required for watering? Or any other unattended modes of failure?

If wifi is disrupted will the controller continue to water acording to the most recently programmed schedules?

More generally are there any modes of failure (other than loss of power to the house) where the controller can unexpectedly halt watering?  It would be unacceptable to have one's garden die from lack of water if the system fails when one is away from home for a number of days.

Is it possible to name zones for easier identification

Chris Graham
Updated at 2020-05-24 20:37:39 UTC

I'm evaluating whether to by a Netro and one of the things I need is to be able to name zones rather than have a zone called say "Zone 6".

I don't see any users manual on your site to answer questions like this.

Hi

I use Netafin pressure compensated drip hose on all my beds and there doesn’t seem To be an irrigation type for that. Is it OK using the drip setting which seems to be for micro drippers.

Thanks

Rearranging zones?

Kurt H
Updated at 2020-05-23 19:17:20 UTC

I do enjoy my Netro, and the app makes things pretty handy.  I do have a couple of questions.

Are there any plans to allow the software to rearrange the zones in a watering cycle (or is that already available and I am just missing it?)  Right now it seems I am stuck watering in the order I have wired the controller.  It would be nice to water one zone, let that soak in while watering another zone, then come back and water a third zone that is adjacent to the first zone.

Another question I have is - is it possible to copy a schedule so that I do not have to set each of the 5 zones for every schedule.  There are times when I would like to run a one time schedule that follows my normal dry schedule,  or follows my moister schedule.

Using measured flow rated instead of estimated

I understand that Netro estimates water usage based on time, emitter type,  and square footage,  but I  have access to actual flow rate via a Flume flow rate monitor. Is there a way to replace the flow rate estimates with actual rates for each system?

Do not water when it rains or rain is expected

Kobus Marneweck
Updated at 2020-05-19 03:33:33 UTC
I replaced my Rainmachine with a Netro but I cannot configure it to do what the Rainmachine did. I live in Austin And can only water 1 day a week. Water is incredible expensive so I  cannot use Smarzone because my water bill will be too high. I want to run each zone for 20 min once per week and not water when rain is expected or it is raining. Netro does seem to be able to do this. Any suggestions?

Watering program

Maciej Karpinski
Updated at 2020-05-18 01:01:57 UTC

Hi there,

I recently installed the Pixie, and have set up both the smart feature and a regular watering program. The watering program was supposed to go off this evening, but it didn’t. I then checked in the schedule, and all I saw were any restrictions and the smart watering schedule. My program was not there. I set the filters to show me the enables program, but it still does not appear. I have no way of telling with the program has been initialized. Is this a glitch? Should the program appear on the schedule? Why did it not activate when it was supposed to?

Thanks.

Zones are not activating since I changed 1 of the solenoid

Updated at 2020-05-17 18:31:27 UTC

Hi

Had to replace a solenoid on the valve on one of my 2 zones and when I do a manual 5min watering on zones 1 or 2 none of them start. I can hear the click of the main valve opening but none  of the zone 1 or 2 valves is opening...if I use the override on the valve to open manually, the water does pass...seem the controller is not sending any open command to eather solenoid of zone 1 or 2 ..

Thanks for your help :)

Program set for 20 minutes per zone but watered for only 5 min

EASTBOBDAM D
Updated at 2020-05-17 13:18:19 UTC

Hello All, I have three zones and created a program to do a deep water for 20 min. Starting from 5AM and ending at 6AM which is expected to run every 3 days. This morning was the first time I ran it and noticed on my home screen it said watered for 5 min. Any reason why this changed? I'm thinking smart watering has to do with this? If so, I'd like to try and keep this feature for the rain aspect (not to run when it will rain). I read if you disable smart watering (which I can't find this feature anymore), then it will still run the  program when it rains, anyway if I'm in the right ballpark to have your cake and eat it too.

Thanks in advance

Server upgrade scheduled on May 16th between 8:30PM and 9:00PM (Pacific Time)

Netro Inc
Updated at 2020-05-17 03:23:28 UTC
Topic: General

To all Netro customers:

Due to rapid increase of active devices connected to the Netro cloud server, we are going to upgrade our server on May 16th Saturday night from 8:30PM to 9:00PM (Pacific Time). During that time frame, all cloud service will be temporarily unavailable but your watering schedules will run normally. If you have a smart watering controller, the light on the unit will blink fast.

Thanks,

Netro Inc

Is it possible to link an activity such as a scheduled zone watering to switch a specific smart light? I have 6 smart lights in my kitchen and would love if they where linked to my 6 watering zones.

No 2.4GHz wifi

Carlos Oliveira
Updated at 2020-05-16 11:29:24 UTC

Hi,

My netro has been working fine for the past many months.

Suddenly it stopped working and light blinks.

I try to configure the Wifi again and it states

I am sure my 2.4 GHz network is available there as I have 2 other devices 10 Cm away from the netro and are working fine at 2.4GHz

I can confirm that in my Orbi Router.

Any ideas ?

Thank you

Carlos

Default rain settings

What is the default setting for not watering the day before and after a rain day? I think it was to skip the day before and of, but not the day after (wish I could reset defaults). Why is the default what it is?

Also, why is the rain delay trigger 0.2? What would happen if I changed it to 0.1?

Smart Watering Adjustment

Tarudro
Updated at 2020-05-11 20:56:22 UTC

Hi Guys,

I have some questions, which answers I couldn't completely find in other posts here.

I have installed a Pixie and a whisperer on my balcony. So far it looks quite good, but it still requires some tuning.

Unfortunately the house is not well designed which resulted in a complained from my neighbours below me about dirty water dripping onto their balcony, quite soon after I installed the new watering system (with irrigation drippers)

Seems like the Pixie is watering too much, so I went into the settings and configured the SmartWatering with Advanced and tweaked the settings such that it resulted in ~1 min watering per day.

My first question: All over the app, 1 min watering seems to be the minimum - is this correct? Is there a plan to enable even shorter cycles?

When the Pixie is watering for two minutes some of my pots are already filled up and start soaking to the neighbors.

I think a 30 seconds cycle twice a day should even be sufficient for me. However, I couldn't find a way to get below 1 min. Neither with manual, nor with SmartZone.

So, my current solution would be two have 1 minute in the morning and 1 minute in the evening. That should work on dry days.

However, I've not quite understood yet, when the SmartZone (if set to basic) skips the watering. It's only depending on the weather forecast, right?

When checking the Whisperer settings, I can also select watering to be skipped and added at certain thresholds. At what times are those waterings added? And at what intervals is this repeated?

E.g. Add watering set for 50% to 1m. Does this mean it adds 1m watering for that day? once? at what time?

Actually I'd very much like to use the SmartWatering Advanced features, but it just waters too much for my small plants on the balcony. I'm not sure, how I can archive a smart watering behavior in the best way, considering that it should water quite often, but optimally less than 1m, because my neighbors don't want to have a dirty and wet balcony all the time ;-)

And yes, I could reduce the dripping amount at the sprinkers, but this also would mean that it's not spread at all and really just dripping.

Looking forward for some tips or hints,

Kind regards & stay healthy,

Lukas
