The old controller may have the ability to run 8 zones but you only have 5 zones in your lawn. 

Shut off one zone

Either unplug the wire of the zone out of the controller or delete the zone in the app.

I have one of mine doing the same thing. Disable smart watering and just put it on a set time each day. Glad to see I’m not the only genius that came up with this idea!
