Plant sensor readings

Hi Dan,

I believe the 2 sensors are turned off. Can you please press the button on the back twice and see if the light will turn on?

If the light turns on, do not press the buttons again and the sensor will automatically sleep when it finishes data reporting.

Thanks,

Amount of Rainfall keeps changing

Weather forecast data changes according to time. Netro keeps to fetch the latest data from weather providers (e.g. darksky) one or multiple times every day. That's why you see the rain amount changes in the Netro app. Because of all kinds of delays, weather provider could also update the the weather data for the past, e.g. yesterday.

Configuration for Netro Sprite suggestions requests

Hi Tony,

1. The reason why only one zone can run at a time is that the AC power adapter usually only provides 800mA. One valve can consume 300mA and some people have a master valve or pump which also consumes 300mA. If 2 zones run with a master valve, the total current would be 900mA which is unsafe. However, if you do not have master valve or pump, you can connect 2 zones to one slot in the controller.

2.We would like to help on the zone planning but we are not experts in this area. However, how many zones you need depends on the sprinkler types and also the water pressure. If a sprinkler can cover a larger area, you probably need less sprinklers. I would suggest you consult an irrigation profession for optimal zone planning.

3. As each zone is unique, with different plants, sunlight and soil conditions, we recommend to place one sensor in each zone for best watering results. Consider adding sensors for the zones that you care most. However, in a future version of the app, we will allow one sensor to monitor up to 3 zones but the user needs to make sure the zones have similar environmental conditions.

Dear Eduardo,

The issue is probably caused by using a DC power adapter. The Netro Sprite needs an AC power adapter to properly function. Please send a picture of the power adapter to support@netrohome.com and we will take a look.

Hi David,

Please use a multi-meter to measure the resistance between the common wire and each zone. The normal reading would be 20-60 Ohms. If the reading is less than 10 Ohms then you might have a shorted circuit in the solenoid and if it is larger than 80 Ohms you might have an open circuit. To test if the controller is working properly, use a multi-meter (AC voltage mode) to test the voltage between the common wire and the zone wire when the zone is active. Normally the voltage should be between 24V and 28V.

Thanks

Zone won’t turn on when manually turn it on

Hi Dennis,

Please check the wires. Are they loose or disconnected from the slots? Please also check the common wires and the master valve if you have one. If you believe the wires are correctly installed, please check if there is a main valve/faucet that is turned off manually. You might also want to check whether there are shorted zones or open zones. You just need to use a multimeter to measure the resistance between the common wire and each zone. The normal reading would be 20-60 Ohms. If the reading is less than 10 Ohms then you might have a shorted circuit in the solenoid and if it is larger than 80 Ohms you might have an open circuit. To test if the controller is working properly, use a multimeter (AC voltage mode) to test the voltage between the common wire and the zone wire when the zone is active. Normally the voltage should be between 24V and 28V.

Hi Junglim,

The issues with the manual runs are caused by a firmware update and it has been fixed.

Zone 1 manual water time only 1 minute?

When you touch the time, there will popup a select box from 1 minute to 60 minutes. In our next app release, we will add 0 minute into selection box for users who want to skip a certain zone. Thanks.

Why is my sprite watering zones multiple times a day

Hi Tim,

Netro calculates the smart schedules based on weather condition, sprinkler type and other environmental conditions like soil types. If you selected Dripper/emitter for your zones, the zones have longer watering duration than other zones as dripping/emitter system is really slow in moving watering to the ground.

Some zones are watered multiple times a day, you probably selected clay, clay loam or loam as the soil type which accepts water slowly, often as little as 1/4 inch per hour and that is why Netro breaks the watering into many pieces to avoid water runoff.

Are you using a new Netro account to add the device? If so, what's your old account username? If you know, what's your device's serial number? We could move the device from the old account to the new account for you. You could send us email to support@netrohome.com and we will take care of it.
