Following the acquisition of Dark sky by Apple and news that hey will be shutting down the API, will Netro be able to work with dark sky as a weather data provider?

Photinia Fraseri Red robin area setup and others

Giacomo
Updated at 2020-03-24 14:44:34 UTC

Hi , I'm an Italian happy owner of the netro sprite since last summer :)

Last year I used a classic static programs, this year I want to try the smart side of the platform, I've set my seven zones (square meters, type, etc), but I've some questions:

1) I've two zones with Photinia Fraseri Red Robin (zone3,7), in the database I've set the "Photinia Fraseri", but I've a doubt for the area in sqm, is it square meters or linear meters? If I try to set 50sqm or 25 the water not change, is it correct?

2) The algorithm put 107minutes every 14.5days, I've ask to my gardener and he told me that it's too much water (about double) for that plants in this period. Can i set up only this zone with customs specs?

3) I want to buy the Whisperer sensors, but in Amazon.it there is only the sprite, if I buy by netrohome portal the delivery may be slow, there are additional customs duty, etc. Any chance to see in Amazon.it?

Thanks in advance

Smart scheduling problem

Alfonso Olias Sanz
Updated at 2020-03-23 19:15:51 UTC

This is my set up.

I have a netro device + whisperers

I have set up the netro to skip the previous day and the next day after raining.

I also have set up the schedule for watering from 6 am to 7 am.

If moisture is above 50%, then watering is skipped.

Yesterday it rained a lot and today all the zones were supposed to be skipped. But one of the zones went down to 45% of moisture and watering was started at 19:22.

1) why this happened?

2) Can I change the moisture level to a lower one? Current limit in the application is 50%

new dripping system using Pixie and Whisperer

Updated at 2020-02-20 08:52:39 UTC
I am in the process of designing my dripping system for my beach house in FL. I am thinking about using 2 Pixies and several Whisperers. I have several questions: 1) What happens when the WIFI is down? Does Pixie turn watering off/on on its own? 2) Does Pixie skip a watering cycle when raining? 3) Are the Whisperers connected to the Pixie and App in that the humidity information guides the amount and frequency of watering? 4) What is the recommended soil humidity for new planted palm trees? Thanks, Markus

Watering

I have my first period of rain coming up, so the smart schedule isn't planning on watering until Christmas Eve. Since getting the sensors working properly I've been very happy with the smart watering, but the rain predictions here tend to be a bit sketchy. As my system is saying it won't water because there is rain expected, does it automatically adjust itself and water if the predicted rain doesn't arrive?

Also, I have it set to not water if expected rain is 5mm. What is the difference in this context between expectation and forecast?

Mode between and eco and normal

Sangjin Lee
Updated at 2019-10-17 03:41:11 UTC

I am exploring different smart watering modes. The normal mode waters the lawn too long for me but the eco mode too little. It appears that the eco mode is exactly the same as normal but the watering time is half of normal.

In my case, I would like to set up a smart mode that waters 75% of the normal. How can I configure the smart mode to do that?

Weird watering plan

I don’t understand why smart watering is planning to water my 6 zone area in different ways if they have all the same type of soil, sprinkle head, size, and species.

That give me not much confidence on the intelligence of the system.

Any ideas? Do I have to reset all the system?

Netro Sprite + Netatmo Rain gauge + Wunderground

Tony D.
Updated at 2019-09-24 21:08:17 UTC

Hello everybody,

I own a Sprite and a Netatmo weather station. By now I have configured the Netro App to use Wunderground as the meteo provider. More specifically I have configured my own Netatmo Weather station as a provider. I have to say that it works pretty good in forecasting weather conditions. I would like to know if somebody else is using this configuration and owns also the rain gauge module. In case, does provide the correct rain amount of rainfall in the Netro app Discover page. It would be nice if the Netro "AI" could use the exact rainfall from the rain gauge provided through wunderground.

Anyone experimenting with this?

watering sequence

Updated at 2019-08-26 18:23:46 UTC

It is unfortunatly not possible to change  in which ordre the watering will act.

for exemple I need to water zone 5 after zone 7 because zone 7 is at a higher level than the electro valve and remaining water pressure, after watering is stopped,  is to strong and prevents the valve to close . by watering supplemantary  zone 5 which is lower the pressure diminishes ans the valve of zone 7 closes..

How does a whisper sensor work with a drip system?

L F
Updated at 2019-08-25 23:46:33 UTC
I have a couple whisper sensors monitoring my lawn and drip system.   I understand how they can monitor the soil in my lawn but I’m wonder how the whisper works on my drip system as it doesn’t see the moisture that’s added to the soil(the emitter isolates the water to the plant) or the rate the plants use it like the one in the lawn does.  I’m assuming it’s just estimating like the Netro would on it’s own.  Is there much value to using a whisper on a drip zone?

Smart watering once a week?

Hello there,

I'm new to netro and I tried to setup smart watering but the data I provided it will do it just once a week.

How is it possible? Is it safe to water just once a week?

Unexpected smart schedule

Tony D.
Updated at 2019-08-12 09:35:56 UTC

Hi,

I set up a sprite connected to a whisperer. In the smart scheduling I see that my two zones would be watered in the following way the next day:

- zone 1: 6:00 16 min.

- zone 2: 6:17 15 min.

- zone 1: 6:46 16 min.

- zone 2: 7:02: 15 min.

I have 1 minute delay between each watering.

What I see the next morning is only the first two waterings made but not the second. Specifically:

- zone 1: 6:00 16 min.

- zone 2: 6:17 15 min.

I'm worried that my lawn is missing water since these days we are having the hottest days of summer (41 Celsius).

My whisperer now (11:23 AM august 12th) reads 0 lux, 23 C, 89% topsoil and 72% subsoil for zone 1 and 70% for zone 2. The whisperer is connected both to zone 1 and zone 2 so I don't know why I get different subsoil readings.

Immediately below I see "Moisture" "All day" both for zone 1 and zone 2. Could you please explain this behavior?

It would be nice if you could provide a blog post with all combinations of possibilities and related meanings.

UPDATE

In the web application I have found "User" in the restriction column searching. In the iOS app the only restriction I found to be activated could be the "Moisture to skip watering" in the watering adjustment for the whisperer sensor which is set to 80%.

Thank you in advance,

Tony

I have smart watering enabled with a preference for watering times between 1 and 7.  The schedule shows the system is running from 1 - 10 am and then again starting at 6:00 pm - 9:36.  How do I get this adjusted? My water bill was the highest it has ever been!

Smart Watering advanced watering times

itsthesun
Updated at 2019-08-06 20:42:23 UTC

Hey I'm all setup and running with my sprite and things are great!

My issue is that the advanced smart waters is choosing times that are early in the morning when I shower and its reducing the water pressure for me and I'm sure the heads have less pressure coming out since I am using water too.

Is there anyway without going to basic scheduling and making my own programs that I can edit the times in the morning it waters?
